How we started
Incredible Edible Prestwich & District was set up in June 2010 by a group of local people keen to promote a community approach to the growing and eating of locally produced food. Like many other IE groups up and down the country we're following in the footsteps of Incredible Edible Todmorden who pioneered the name and the idea.
Our organisation
We are all volunteers, some of us concentrating on working at a particular site, some doing more on the organisational side, some doing a bit of everything.
There's no formal membership but a core group of a few officers and other volunteers meets in a room at the Ostrich pub the second Tuesday of every month to plan fundraising, publicity and events and keep an eye on the overall work of the group. We welcome anyone who can spare the time to make a contribution in this way.
The gardening projects all have their own organisers who lead the team working on their site and liaise with the landowner.
